ChanelCC Caviar Top Handle Flap Bag

Q: What typically fits in the Chanel CC Caviar Top Handle Flap Bag?
A: With approximate dimensions of 30 × 23 × 12 cm and an 8 cm handle drop, it comfortably holds a long wallet, smartphone, keys, small cosmetics case, sunglasses, and an A5 diary. It can fit a tablet up to around 10 inches depending on the case, but it will not fit a 13-inch laptop. For best results, compare with the Measurements on this page and avoid overfilling to preserve the structure.

Q: Does this bag come with a shoulder strap or crossbody option?
A: No. This piece is designed to be carried by the single rolled top handle (handheld or in the crook of the arm). There is no shoulder strap included and no dedicated strap attachments. Please refer to the product information section for everything included.

Q: What pockets and compartments does it have?
A: The flap opens to a black leather interior with one zipped pocket to organise small items. Externally, there is one slip pocket for quick-access essentials such as tickets or a phone.

Q: Is Caviar leather a good choice for everyday wear?
A: Yes. Chanel’s Caviar leather is a grained calfskin with a pebbled texture known for excellent durability, structure, and better scratch resistance than lambskin. It tends to maintain its appearance with regular, mindful use, making it a practical choice for daily carry.

Q: How should I care for black Caviar leather and the CC turn-lock hardware?
A: Wipe the leather gently with a soft, dry cloth after use; if needed, use a slightly damp cloth and allow it to air dry. Avoid harsh cleaners, oils, prolonged sunlight/heat, and heavy rain. Do not overfill the bag. Store it loosely stuffed in a breathable dust bag to support the shape, and keep hardware from rubbing directly on leather. If the bag gets wet, blot—do not rub—and let it dry naturally. For deeper cleaning, consult a professional leather specialist.

Q: What does the serial number 8147393 indicate?
A: A 7‑digit Chanel serial beginning with 8 dates to approximately 2003–2004. As this places the bag over 20 years old, it is considered vintage. Serial numbers help indicate a production window but are assessed alongside materials, stamps, stitching, and hardware when authenticating.

Q: What is included with this item?
A: Everything included is listed in the product information section. For this piece, a serial number tag is included. Items such as an authenticity card, dust bag, or box are only included if specifically stated there.

Q: Where was this bag made?
A: France. The origin is noted in the product information and on the internal stamping.

Q: How does A Retro Tale authenticate this bag?
A: Each item is vetted by specialists using a multi‑point process that examines leather type and feel, quilting and stitching, brand stamps, serial sticker/tag, and hardware construction. We stand behind the authenticity of every item we sell and can provide additional details or photos on request.
