ChanelClassic Jumbo Double Flap Bag

Q: What typically fits inside the Classic Jumbo Double Flap?
A: With approximate dimensions of 30 × 20 × 9 cm, it comfortably holds a long zip wallet, large smartphone, keys, sunglasses in a slim case, and a small cosmetics pouch. Slim tablets up to around 11 inches can fit; a 13-inch laptop will not. Capacity varies with how you pack—please refer to the Measurements on this page for exact figures. [The Jumbo is generally c. 30 × 19.5 × 10 cm across the market.]

Q: Can I wear the Jumbo crossbody?
A: Yes for many users. The interwoven chain can be worn doubled (approx. 33 cm drop) for the shoulder or single (approx. 60 cm drop) for a longer shoulder or short crossbody, depending on height and build.

Q: What are the benefits of the double flap?
A: The second internal flap helps the bag keep its structure, adds compartments, and provides extra security and discretion for contents. It does add a little weight compared with single‑flap versions, but many prefer the organisation and shape retention.

Q: Is lambskin suitable for daily use and how should I care for it?
A: Chanel lambskin is soft and luxurious, with a smooth hand. It can show scratches more readily than grained leathers, so treat it with care: avoid rough surfaces and rain, handle with clean hands, and don’t overfill. Store it stuffed to support the shape and place it in its dust bag, with the chain tucked inside to prevent impressions on the leather.

Q: What does the serial number 18378733 indicate?
A: This is an 18‑series code, which typically dates the bag to approximately 2013–2014. Bags from this era were produced with a matching authenticity card and interior serial sticker (Chanel began phasing these out in 2021 in favour of a microchipped metal plate).

Q: Is the Jumbo heavy to carry?
A: The Jumbo is noticeably heavier than a Medium/Large Classic due to its size, double flap and metal chain, but most find it comfortable for day‑to‑day when not overpacked. If you anticipate long wear, use the strap doubled on the shoulder to distribute weight.

Q: Is this size still part of Chanel’s current offering?
A: Chanel now refers to the Classic Flap line as the 11.12. While naming and seasonal materials vary, the larger sizes equivalent to the traditional “Jumbo” continue to appear in seasonal collections; availability differs by boutique and season.

Q: Does this bag have an exterior pocket?
A: Yes. This piece features the signature back slip pocket—ideal for travel cards or small, flat items you need to access quickly.

Q: What is included with this item?
A: Everything included is listed under product information for this listing. For this piece, that is the box, dust bag, brand booklets, authenticity card and serial number tag. If an item isn’t listed there, it is not included—please contact us if you’d like us to confirm.

Q: How do you authenticate this bag?
A: Every item at A Retro Tale undergoes multi‑point checks by our in‑house experts—materials, quilting and stitching, hardware, interior stamps, and the serial code are all examined and cross‑referenced with known standards. We stand behind the authenticity of all items we sell and are happy to provide further details on request.
