Louis VuittonEclipse Clutch Bag

Q: What typically fits inside this Louis Vuitton Eclipse Clutch Bag?
A: With approximate measurements of 23 × 17 × 0.5 cm, it suits daily essentials such as a large smartphone, passport, slim cardholder, folded banknotes, and keys or a lipstick. Bulkier wallets and power banks may overfill it due to the slim profile. Please refer to the Measurements on this page for exact sizing.

Q: Does this clutch have a strap or D-rings for one?
A: No. This piece is designed as a handheld zip clutch without strap attachments. Many clients use it as a sleek carry-in-hand piece or as an organiser inside a larger bag.

Q: What is Monogram Eclipse and is it unisex?
A: Monogram Eclipse is Louis Vuitton’s grey-and-black interpretation of the classic Monogram, first introduced in the Autumn/Winter 2016 menswear collection. Although launched in the men’s line, the style is widely worn by all genders thanks to its understated palette and modern look.

Q: Is the coated canvas water-resistant?
A: Louis Vuitton’s coated canvas is hard-wearing and resists light rain and everyday splashes, but it is not fully waterproof. Wipe moisture away promptly with a soft cloth and avoid soaking or prolonged exposure to rain and humidity.

Q: How should I care for the coated canvas and lining?
A: Wipe the exterior gently with a soft, slightly damp, lint-free cloth and dry immediately. Avoid alcohol-based products, household cleaners, leather lotions, oils, and abrasive scrubbing. Do not overfill the clutch, and store it in its dust bag in a cool, ventilated place away from direct heat or sunlight to preserve shape and finish.

Q: What does the date code TJ3146 mean?
A: For codes used before Louis Vuitton’s move to microchips (from 2021), the letters indicate country and the numbers show week and year. TJ3146 decodes to France, 34th week of 2016. Note that date codes are not unique serial numbers and are only one element of authentication.

Q: Does it fit a tablet or e‑reader?
A: Most tablets, including compact sizes, exceed the 17 cm height of this clutch and will not fit. Some smaller e‑readers under approximately 17 cm in height may fit, but please check your device’s exact dimensions against the Measurements provided.

Q: What comes with this item?
A: Everything included with the purchase is listed under product information on this page. For this piece, a dust bag is included.

Q: How do you authenticate this item?
A: Every piece at A Retro Tale undergoes multi‑point authentication by our in‑house specialists, assessing materials, stitching, hardware, stamps, and date code logic. We stand behind the authenticity of all items we sell and are happy to provide further details on request.

Q: How can I minimise wear on the silver‑tone hardware?
A: Hairline scratches are normal with gentle use. To reduce wear, avoid contact with keys or rough surfaces, handle zips with care, and store the clutch in its dust bag when not in use; wipe hardware with a dry, soft cloth only.
