Louis VuittonEpi Speedy 30 Bag

Q: What typically fits inside the Louis Vuitton Epi Speedy 30 Bag?
A: With approximate dimensions of 33 x 22 x 17 cm, this size is well suited to daily essentials such as a long wallet, phone, keys, sunglasses case, small cosmetics pouch, and a compact water bottle. It offers a roomier everyday capacity than smaller Speedy sizes while still remaining easy to carry by hand.

Q: Can this bag be worn on the shoulder or crossbody?
A: No. This vintage Speedy 30 is a handheld style and this specific item does not include a shoulder strap. The handle drop is approximately 8 cm, so it is designed to be carried in the hand or at the crook of the arm.

Q: Is the Speedy 30 a good everyday size?
A: Yes. The Speedy 30 is widely considered one of the most practical everyday Speedy sizes, offering enough space for daily necessities without feeling as large as the bigger travel-oriented versions. If you like a structured handheld bag with a classic silhouette, it is an excellent day-to-day option.

Q: What are the benefits of Epi leather?
A: Epi leather is known for its distinctive textured finish, structured feel, and strong durability. Louis Vuitton introduced Epi in 1985 as a more hard-wearing leather option, and it remains popular because it is generally more resistant to scratches and everyday wear than many smoother leathers.

Q: How should I care for vintage Epi leather?
A: Wipe it gently with a soft, dry or slightly damp cloth, and avoid harsh cleaners, oils, alcohol-based products, and prolonged exposure to direct sunlight or moisture. When not in use, store it in a cool, dry place and lightly stuff it to help maintain the shape. As this is a vintage item, gentle handling is especially important.

Q: What does the date code VI0913 mean?
A: The code indicates production in France in January 1993. For Louis Vuitton pieces from this period, the letters identify the production location and the numbers indicate the month and year. As with all vintage Louis Vuitton items, the date code is one authenticity detail among several rather than a standalone guarantee.

Q: What accessories are included with this bag?
A: According to the product information, this item comes with no accessories. If you are wondering about extras such as a dust bag, lock, key, clochette, or strap, they are not included unless specifically stated in the product information.

Q: What is the condition of this specific bag?
A: This bag is listed in very good condition overall. The exterior shows some visible creasing, the interior has marks, and the hardware is shiny with light scratches and some tarnished spots. As with most vintage items, these are signs of previous use and part of the bag’s individual character.

Q: Where was this bag made?
A: The country of origin label states France. That aligns with the date code prefix and is consistent with vintage Louis Vuitton production from this era.

Q: How do you authenticate this bag?
A: Every item at A Retro Tale is checked by in-house experts using details such as materials, construction, hardware, stamps, and date codes. With vintage Louis Vuitton, authentication is based on the overall consistency of the piece rather than any single feature alone.
