Louis VuittonMonogram Cluny BB Bag

Q: What typically fits inside the Louis Vuitton Cluny BB?
A: Despite the "BB" size, this bag is a practical daily carrier. It comfortably fits a large smartphone (such as an iPhone Pro/Max), a compact wallet (e.g., Victorine or Zippy Coin Purse), keys, lipstick, and sunglasses in a soft case. While a full-length continental wallet can fit in the main compartment, it may take up significant space; we recommend smaller leather goods to maximise room. Please refer to the Measurements on this page for specific dimensions.

Q: Is the shoulder strap adjustable?
A: The vibrant pink and red leather strap included with this model is detachable but not adjustable. With a strap drop of approximately 55 cm, it is designed to sit comfortably as a crossbody or long shoulder bag for most wearers. If you prefer a shorter carry, you can detach the strap and use the single rolled top handle.

Q: How secure is the closure?
A: The Cluny BB features a magnetic flap closure that is strong and self-closing, offering easy access while keeping your belongings secure. For valuable items, the interior includes a large zipped pocket.

Q: What is the interior layout?
A: The interior is lined in a bright fuchsia textile, making it easy to locate your belongings. It features a main compartment, one large zipped pocket, and two flat slip pockets suitable for a smartphone or cardholder.

Q: What materials is this bag made from?
A: This piece is crafted from Louis Vuitton’s durable Monogram coated canvas. It features a natural cowhide (vachetta) top handle—which will develop a honey-coloured patina over time—and a smooth two-tone leather shoulder strap in pink and red. The bag is finished with gold-tone hardware and protective bottom studs.

Q: How should I care for the Vachetta leather handle?
A: The top handle is made of natural untreated cowhide (vachetta), which is sensitive to water, oils, and sunlight. It will naturally darken with use. To keep it in good condition, avoid contact with hand creams, water, or dark denim, and grip the handle with clean, dry hands. The coated canvas body and coloured strap are more robust and can be wiped with a soft, damp cloth.

Q: Where is this specific bag made and when?
A: This Cluny BB features the date code DU0127, indicating it was manufactured in France in the 2nd week of 2017. You can find the date code stamped on a leather tab inside the bag or along an interior seam.

Q: What condition is this item in?
A: This piece is in Very Good condition with light traces of use. The hardware is shiny with light scratches, and both the external canvas and internal lining show only light signs of wear. Please review the detailed condition rating and photos on this page for a closer look.

Q: How do you authenticate this item?
A: Every item at A Retro Tale is rigorously vetted by our in-house experts. We conduct multi-point checks on materials, stitching, hardware, date codes (like the DU0127 on this piece), and overall construction to ensure authenticity. We stand behind the genuineness of every piece we sell.

Q: What accessories are included?
A: This item includes the detachable two-tone shoulder strap and the leather tag (clochette). Any other original accessories (such as a dust bag or box) are only included if listed specifically under the "Accessories" section on this page.
