HermèsIn-the-Loop 23 Bag

Q: What fits inside the Hermès In-the-Loop 23?
A: This bucket-style tote is spacious for its size, often compared to the Picotin 22. It comfortably holds daily essentials such as a large smartphone (including Pro/Max models), a continental (long) wallet, a makeup pouch, keys, and sunglasses. It can also accommodate a small water bottle and an iPad Mini or e-reader. Please refer to the Measurements on this page or contact us for a tailored fit check.

Q: Can I wear this bag on my shoulder?
A: The In-the-Loop 23 is designed primarily as a hand-carry or crook-of-the-arm bag. The dual handles are typically too short for shoulder wear. Unlike some other Hermès models, it does not come with a shoulder strap, although some owners choose to attach third-party straps to the hardware for crossbody convenience (not included).

Q: How does the closure work?
A: The bag features an open-top design secured by a central Chaine d’Ancre link clasp (a metal hook mechanism). This signature detail helps maintain the bag’s shape while providing easy access to your belongings. For extra security with smaller valuables, we recommend using a pouch or the interior pocket.

Q: What materials is this bag made of?
A: This specific piece is crafted from Taupe grained leather (typically Taurillon Clémence) paired with smooth leather handles (typically Swift). The interior is unlined, showcasing the soft, suede-like reverse side of the leather. The bottom of the bag features a distinctive Chaine d’Ancre motif stitched in leather.

Q: Does it have protective feet on the base?
A: No, unlike the Picotin Lock, the In-the-Loop 23 does not have metal feet. Instead, the base is reinforced with the structured leather Chaine d’Ancre motif. We recommend being mindful of where you place the bag to keep the leather bottom in pristine condition.

Q: Where are the date stamp and markings located?
A: The Hermès "blind stamp" (indicating the year of production) is typically located inside the bag, often near a side seam or on an interior panel. This item is listed with a "B" stamp, denoting it was produced in 2023. You will also find the "Hermès Paris Made in France" stamp on the interior.

Q: How do you authenticate this bag?
A: Every item at A Retro Tale is rigorously vetted by our in-house experts using multi-point checks of materials, stitching, hardware, stamps, and overall construction. We stand behind the authenticity of all items we sell and can provide additional details on request.

Q: What accessories are included?
A: Any included items (such as a dust bag, box, or care booklet) are listed under the “Accessories” section on this page. If an item is not listed there, it is not included. Please feel free to contact us if you need confirmation on specific inclusions.
