A: Produced in 1971, this Ref. 1601 is a definitive example of the vintage Datejust. It features a 36mm stainless steel Oyster case surmounted by a signature fluted bezel crafted from 18k white gold. This elegant contrast is paired with a black dial and the classic stainless steel Jubilee bracelet.

Q: Does this model have a Quickset date?
A: No. This watch is powered by the reliable Rolex Calibre 1570 automatic movement, which is a "non-Quickset" calibre. To adjust the date, you must advance the hour hands continuously through full 24-hour cycles. This mechanical interaction is a distinctive characteristic of vintage Rolex collecting.

Q: Is the crystal sapphire or acrylic?
A: This 1971 model is fitted with an acrylic (plexiglass) crystal. Unlike modern flat sapphire, the acrylic crystal has a tall profile that adds warmth and vintage charm to the dial. It also features the iconic Cyclops lens for date magnification and can be polished to remove light surface scuffs.
