CelineMedium Classic Box Bag

Q: What typically fits inside the Céline Classic Box (Medium)?
A: With approximate measurements for this piece of 23 × 19 × 6.5 cm, it comfortably carries daily essentials such as a large smartphone, a compact wallet or card holder, keys, slim sunglasses in a soft case, a small cosmetics pouch and a passport. A compact e‑reader or iPad mini–sized tablet may fit horizontally without a bulky case; A4 documents and 11‑inch tablets generally do not. If you’d like a tailored fit check for a specific item, just ask and we’ll test it for you.

Q: Is the strap adjustable, and can I wear it crossbody?
A: The Classic Box typically features an adjustable leather strap. For this exact bag, the strap drop is listed at approximately 43 cm, which wears comfortably on the shoulder and as a high crossbody on some wearers; taller frames may find it sits higher on the body. If you’d like exact on‑body guidance, we’re happy to advise based on your height and preferred carry.

Q: How secure is the closure and how should I operate it?
A: It uses Céline’s signature push‑lock clasp, which provides good everyday security. To minimise hairline scratches on the metal plate, press the lock to release rather than sliding the flap hardware across the plate. When commuting, keep the bag upright and avoid overfilling to maintain the clean lines and closure alignment.

Q: What is the interior layout of this piece?
A: This bag has a matching leather lining with two main compartments and three internal pockets, including a zipped pocket and slip pockets for small items. The thoughtful layout helps keep essentials organised without adding bulk.

Q: What leather is it made from and how does it wear over time?
A: The Classic Box is crafted in smooth box‑calf leather—renowned for its sleek, minimalist look and beautiful patina that develops with use. It can show fine scratches and pressure marks more readily than textured leathers; many light surface marks can be gently buffed with a clean, soft cloth. With mindful care, it ages elegantly.

Q: Any care tips for box‑calf leather and hardware?
A: Keep the bag away from rain and oils, and be mindful of colour transfer from dark denim or unsealed dyes. Dust with a soft, dry cloth; condition sparingly with a high‑quality neutral leather cream only after testing on a discreet area. Store it lightly stuffed, upright, in a breathable dust bag, with the strap tucked inside and padded to prevent impressions. Avoid prolonged friction on the clasp and other hardware to reduce hairline scratches.

Q: Is the Classic Box still produced?
A: The Medium Classic remains part of Céline’s offering periodically, though colours and availability vary by season and boutique. The pre‑loved market is the best route for sought‑after shades like navy and for earlier “Céline” (with accent) era pieces such as this one.

Q: Where are the brand markings and codes, and can you help date the bag?
A: Authentic bags feature an interior heat‑stamp (Céline/CELINE and country of origin). This piece is labelled Made in Italy. Most also include an embossed alphanumeric date code on a small leather tab or along an interior seam; the code indicates production timing and workshop and is not a unique serial number. Share the code with us and we’ll help interpret it for you.

Q: What accessories are included with this item?
A: This listing is sold as the bag only and comes with no accessories. Anything included would be listed under “Accessories”—if it isn’t mentioned there, it isn’t included. Feel free to contact us for confirmation.

Q: How do you authenticate this bag?
A: Every item at A Retro Tale undergoes rigorous, multi‑point authentication by our in‑house experts, assessing leather, stitching, edge paint, heat‑stamps, date code format/placement, hardware and construction. We stand behind the authenticity of every piece we sell.
