ChanelClassic Maxi Single Flap Bag

Q: What typically fits inside the Classic Maxi Single Flap?
A: With approximate dimensions of 33 × 23 × 10 cm, it comfortably holds an A4 folder or tablet, a long wallet, phone, keys, and cosmetics. A slim 13-inch laptop may fit without a bulky case. Capacity depends on how you pack—avoid overfilling to preserve shape. Please refer to the Measurements on this page for exact sizing.

Q: Can I wear the Maxi crossbody?
A: The chain measures roughly 60 cm when worn as a single strap and about 32 cm when doubled. Many people find the Maxi most comfortable as a shoulder bag; crossbody wear is possible on some body types but usually sits higher on the torso, especially over outerwear. Try both ways and choose the look you prefer.

Q: What is the difference between a single flap and a double flap?
A: Single flaps have one main flap, making them lighter and a touch roomier with easier access. Double flaps include an extra interior flap that adds structure and weight. Chanel no longer produces the Jumbo/Maxi single flap, so these are older, sought-after pieces on the pre-owned market.

Q: Will this bag fit a 13-inch laptop?
A: Often yes, if the laptop is slim or in a thin sleeve. The opening and interior give a little flexibility, but bulky cases may not pass comfortably under the flap. To be sure, compare your device’s measurements with 33 × 23 × 10 cm and allow a small margin for the flap and lining.

Q: Is the gold-tone hardware 24k gold-plated?
A: Many Chanel bags produced before late 2008 used 24k gold-plated hardware. As this piece’s serial sticker is unreadable, we cannot confirm the exact year of production, so we describe the finish as gold-tone. Regardless of era, normal surface wear to plating is common with use.

Q: How do you authenticate this bag if the serial sticker is unreadable?
A: Our specialists authenticate through a multi-point inspection of materials, stitching, quilting alignment, stamps, CC turn-lock, hardware, and construction details, using period-correct references. Serial numbers and cards are evaluated when present, but authenticity is determined by the whole set of characteristics—not by a single identifier.

Q: What is included with this item?
A: Everything included is listed under the product information section on this page. If an item (such as a dust bag or authenticity card) is not mentioned there, it is not included. For this bag, the product information notes a serial number tag.

Q: How should I care for the lambskin leather?
A: Keep it away from prolonged sunlight, heat and humidity; if it gets wet, blot gently with a soft, non‑pilling cloth. For minor surface marks on lambskin, gently rub in small circles. Store the bag upright in a breathable pouch, wrap the chain to avoid imprints, and stuff lightly to maintain shape. Avoid harsh cleaners; seek a professional for deep care.

Q: Where was this bag made?
A: The origin is France, as indicated in the product information. Chanel has produced Classic Flaps in France and Italy across different years, and both are authentic for the style.
