HermèsBox Constance 23 Shoulder Bag

Q: What typically fits inside this Hermès Constance 23?
A: With measurements of approximately 23 x 18 x 5 cm, it is well suited to daily essentials such as a large smartphone, a compact wallet or card holder, keys, lipstick, and slim sunglasses. A bulky long wallet, tablet, or bottle is unlikely to fit comfortably, so this style works best when packed neatly.

Q: Is this bag better for shoulder wear or crossbody wear?
A: This piece is best suited to shoulder wear. Based on the listed strap measurements, it sits at approximately 19 cm doubled or 35 cm single, so it may work as a high crossbody on some frames, but it is not the long crossbody fit many modern bags offer.

Q: Does Box calf leather scratch easily?
A: Yes. Box calf leather is prized for its smooth, polished finish, but it tends to show scratches and surface marks more readily than grained leathers. That is part of the character of vintage Box leather, which often develops a rich patina over time. This bag already shows some scratches and visible wear on the edges, consistent with its good vintage condition.

Q: How secure is the H clasp?
A: The signature H slide clasp is designed to keep the flap closed securely while still being easy to access. To preserve the leather and hardware, it is best to open and close it gently and avoid forcing the clasp if it is slightly misaligned.

Q: What is the condition of this bag?
A: This bag is in good condition overall. The exterior shows visible wear on the edges and some scratches. Inside, there are light traces of use and minor marks. The hardware remains shiny with light scratches as well as some deeper scratches.

Q: How is the interior organised?
A: The bag has a tonal leather lining with one internal zip pocket. Its slim, structured shape is ideal for keeping essentials organised, but it is not intended for carrying bulkier items.

Q: How should I care for vintage Box calf leather?
A: Keep it away from rain, direct heat, prolonged sunlight, oils, ink, perfume, and overfilling. If it gets wet, gently blot it straight away with a soft, lint-free cloth. When not in use, store it in a dry, temperate place and lightly stuff it to help maintain its shape. Avoid harsh leather products and treat vintage leather with care.

Q: Are any accessories included with this item?
A: Any included extras are listed in the product information. For this item, no accessories are included.

Q: Is the Constance 23 still a current Hermès size?
A: The Constance 23 is considered a vintage or retired size and is mainly found on the secondary market. That makes it especially appealing to collectors who appreciate earlier Constance proportions and classic vintage Hermès styling.
