HermèsTogo Vespa Bag

Q: What typically fits inside the Hermès Vespa PM?
A: With approximate measurements of 30 × 27 × 7 cm (H × W × D), it’s ideal for daily essentials: a large smartphone (including most Pro/Max models), a continental wallet or compact wallet, keys, slim sunglasses in a soft case, a small cosmetics pouch, and an A5 diary. A standard 10–11-inch tablet usually fits; A4 papers can slide in but may contact the corners/opening and are best carried in a slim folder. A 13-inch laptop will not fit.

Q: Can I wear it crossbody? Is the strap adjustable?
A: The Vespa PM features a single canvas shoulder strap that is typically non‑adjustable. It’s designed for shoulder wear and can sit as a high crossbody on some wearers. We list the strap measurement under Measurements for this exact piece (approx. 75 cm); if you’d like the precise drop or a try‑on photo, just ask and we’ll confirm.

Q: How secure is the closure?
A: The bag closes with Hermès’ signature Chaîne d’Ancre (anchor‑chain) toggle. It offers quick access and good everyday security, though it isn’t as sealed as a zip. For commuting or travel, keep the bag upright and place small valuables in a pouch for extra peace of mind.

Q: What is the interior layout?
A: This model has an unlined suede interior, typically with a slip pocket to organise small items. Layout details can vary slightly by production year; our listing photos show the exact configuration of this piece.

Q: What is Togo leather and how does it wear?
A: Togo is a textured (grained) calfskin celebrated for its balance of structure and softness. It’s relatively scratch‑resistant, resists sagging better than very soft leathers, and develops a refined patina with use. The camel tone on this piece pairs beautifully with the gold‑tone hardware for an understated, classic look.

Q: How should I care for Togo leather and the canvas strap?
A: Keep the leather away from moisture, oils, and prolonged sunlight. If it gets lightly wet, blot (don’t rub) with a soft cloth and allow to air‑dry away from heat. Wipe with a clean, dry cloth and use a high‑quality neutral conditioner very sparingly (test first on a discreet area). Store stuffed and upright in a breathable dust bag. The canvas strap can be gently spot‑cleaned with a slightly damp cloth; avoid soaking or harsh cleaners. Be mindful of colour transfer from dark denim onto lighter leather tones.

Q: Is the Vespa still in production?
A: The Vespa is generally considered a discontinued Hermès style and is most commonly found via the vintage/pre‑loved market. Availability in boutiques is uncommon; sourcing through reputable resellers (like A Retro Tale) is the best way to find specific sizes and leathers.

Q: Where are the brand markings and date stamps, and how is dating handled?
A: Authentic Hermès bags feature “Hermès Paris” and a blind‑stamp (date stamp plus artisan/workshop code) impressed into the leather. Stamp placement varies by model and era. We can share close‑up photos of the stamps on this bag and help you interpret them on request.

Q: What condition is this specific vintage piece in?
A: Overall Very Good condition with light traces of use. The exterior shows minimal wear; the hardware remains shiny with light scratches. Inside, the unlined suede shows some stains and pen marks. Please review our detailed photos and condition notes for a closer look.

Q: What accessories are included and how do you authenticate?
A: This listing includes a dust bag (see Accessories). If an item isn’t listed there, it isn’t included—feel free to contact us to confirm. Every item at A Retro Tale undergoes rigorous, multi‑point authentication by our in‑house experts, assessing materials, stitching, hardware, stamps/date codes and overall construction. We stand behind the authenticity of every piece we sell.
