Louis VuittonEpi Belt, size 85

Q: What does size 85 mean on this Louis Vuitton belt?
A: Louis Vuitton sizes its belts by the distance from the buckle pin to the centre hole. On a size 85 belt, that measurement is 85 cm, or about 34 inches. It does not refer to the total length of the belt, and it may not match your trouser size exactly. The best way to check fit is to measure a belt you already wear from the buckle pin to your usual hole.

Q: Which hole should the belt ideally fit on?
A: Most buyers prefer the belt to sit on the middle hole, as this leaves room to adjust slightly tighter or looser. If you wear it on another hole that can still be perfectly fine, but the centre hole is usually the most versatile fit.

Q: Is Epi leather a practical choice for everyday wear?
A: Yes. Epi leather is known for its structured feel, textured finish, and strong durability, which makes it a popular choice for regular use. The embossed surface can also help disguise minor everyday marks better than smooth leather.

Q: How wide is this belt, and what kind of styling does it suit?
A: This belt measures about 2 cm in width, giving it a slim profile. It works especially well with outfits that suit a narrower belt, such as tailored trousers, skirts, dresses, or high-waisted styling.

Q: What condition is this vintage belt in?
A: It is listed in Very Good condition with light traces of use. The hardware is shiny with light scratches, which is consistent with gentle wear on a vintage piece.

Q: What does the code CT0935 mean?
A: This code gives production information rather than acting as a unique serial number. In Louis Vuitton’s date code system, CT indicates France and 0935 corresponds to September 1995. As with all vintage Louis Vuitton items, the code is useful for dating the piece but is not the only factor used for authentication.

Q: Is this belt reversible?
A: No. Based on the product information, this is a single-sided black Epi leather belt with gold-tone hardware and a buckle closure.

Q: What is included with the belt?
A: This item comes with a box. Everything included is shown in the product information, so if another item is not listed there, it should not be assumed to be included.

Q: How should I care for this belt?
A: Wipe the leather gently with a soft, slightly damp cloth and dry it afterwards. Avoid solvents, leather oils, perfume, creams, sanitiser, excess moisture, and rough surfaces, as these can affect the leather and hardware. Store it away from heat and humidity when not in use.

Q: How is a vintage Louis Vuitton belt authenticated?
A: Authentication should never rely on the date code alone. A proper review also considers the leather, stitching, hardware, stamping, construction, and whether all details are consistent with the period of manufacture. At A Retro Tale, each item is checked for authenticity before sale.
