Louis VuittonMonogram Macassar Porte-Documents Jour Bag

Q: What typically fits inside the Porte‑Documents Jour?
A: With approximate measurements of 36 × 29 × 6 cm, it’s built for everyday work essentials: A4 documents/folders, a 13‑inch laptop (without a bulky sleeve), smartphone, a compact wallet, keys, slim sunglasses and small pouches. The 6 cm depth keeps the profile sleek, so we recommend avoiding very bulky items to maintain the silhouette. If you’d like a tailored fit check for a specific device, just ask and we’ll test this exact piece.

Q: Will it fit a 14‑ or 15‑inch laptop?
A: Most slim 14‑inch devices may fit depending on bezels and case thickness, but it will be snug at the zip opening. Full‑size 15‑inch laptops are generally too large for comfortable, secure closure. Comparing your device’s dimensions with our Measurements is the best guide, and we’re happy to test the fit on request.

Q: Does this bag have a shoulder strap? Can I wear it crossbody?
A: Many Porte‑Documents Jour versions were sold with a detachable, adjustable shoulder strap and can be worn on the shoulder or crossbody. This specific listing is sold without accessories and our Measurements show only a 12 cm handle drop, so plan for hand or crook‑of‑arm carry. If you’d like to know whether this piece has D‑rings for attaching a compatible LV strap, contact us and we’ll confirm.

Q: How secure is the closure and what is the pocket layout?
A: The PDJ typically features a zip‑around top for secure access, an exterior front zipped pocket for quick‑access items, and an organised interior with multiple slip pockets. Our listing photos show the exact configuration of this piece, including the burgundy textile lining.

Q: What is Monogram Macassar, and is it durable?
A: Monogram Macassar pairs LV’s signature coated canvas with black leather trim and silver‑tone hardware for a modern, high‑contrast look. Coated canvas is robust and wipeable; the black leather trim adds structure and should be conditioned sparingly. With mindful use, the PDJ is an excellent daily work bag.

Q: Any tips for care and storage?
A: Keep the bag away from heavy rain and oils; be mindful of colour transfer from dark denim onto the black leather. Wipe the coated canvas with a soft, dry cloth; condition the smooth leather trim sparingly with a quality neutral conditioner (test first on a discreet area). Store it upright, lightly stuffed, in a breathable dust bag; avoid overloading so the zip runs smoothly and the shape stays crisp. Pad any hardware or strap attachments during storage to minimise hairline scratches.

Q: Where are the brand markings and codes located, and what does SP1213 mean?
A: You’ll find a “LOUIS VUITTON Paris” heat‑stamp inside along with a date code on a small leather tab or seam. The code on this piece is SP1213: “SP” denotes France and “1213” decodes to the 11th week of 2013. Note that from around 2021 LV transitioned from visible date codes to embedded microchips; this 2013 piece correctly carries a date code.

Q: Is the Porte‑Documents Jour still produced?
A: The PDJ has appeared in various canvases and leathers over multiple seasons. Availability of specific Monogram Macassar versions can vary by year and region; the pre‑loved market is often the best route for earlier configurations like this one.

Q: How do you authenticate and what accessories are included?
A: Every item at A Retro Tale is rigorously vetted via multi‑point checks of materials, stitching, hardware, stamps and date code/microchip to ensure authenticity. Included items are always listed under “Accessories.” For this listing, it is sold without accessories—if you need a dust bag or strap advice, just ask and we’ll guide you.
