Louis VuittonMonogram Motard Pochette Bag

Q: What typically fits inside the Louis Vuitton Monogram Motard Pochette Bag?
A: With approximate measurements of 30 x 19.5 x 4 cm, this slim pochette is best for essentials such as a phone, cardholder, keys, lipstick, a compact, passport, and other flat daily items. It is not designed for bulkier pieces such as a tablet, water bottle, or large purse. The internal pocket is useful for organising smaller essentials.

Q: Is this bag better suited to day or evening use?
A: It works well for both. The slim silhouette, flap front, and shoulder strap make it easy to carry during the day, while the elegant Motard finish and compact shape also suit evening wear. It is a practical choice if you want a vintage Louis Vuitton bag that sits neatly under the arm.

Q: What material is the Monogram Motard line known for?
A: The Monogram Motard line is known for its richly textured patent lambskin finish with a stitched or quilted Monogram effect. This example is finished with black leather trim and gold-tone hardware, giving it a softer and dressier feel than classic coated canvas Louis Vuitton styles.

Q: What does the date code MB3077 mean?
A: The date code on this bag is MB3077. In Louis Vuitton's coding system, MB indicates production in France, and the number format used from 2007 onward points to the 37th week of 2007. A date code helps identify when and where a bag was made, but it should never be used as the only proof of authenticity.

Q: Is the Monogram Motard Pochette considered rare or discontinued?
A: Yes. The Motard pochette is a discontinued vintage Louis Vuitton style from the late 2000s and is no longer part of the current collection. Because it appears less often on the resale market than classic Monogram canvas pochettes, it is generally viewed as a harder-to-source piece.

Q: What is the condition of this specific bag?
A: This example is listed in Very Good condition, with light traces of use to both the exterior and interior. The hardware remains shiny with light surface scratches. It also comes with a dust bag. As with any vintage piece, the photos and condition notes together give the clearest picture of its present state.

Q: How should I care for vintage patent lambskin leather?
A: Patent lambskin should be treated gently. Wipe it with a soft dry or slightly damp cloth, avoid moisture, oils, perfumes, and abrasive contact, and keep it away from prolonged heat or direct sunlight. Store the bag in its dust bag and lightly stuff it to help maintain the shape without putting pressure on the leather.

Q: Can Louis Vuitton repair a vintage bag like this?
A: Louis Vuitton states that repairs for leather goods can be requested online through the LV app or in store. That said, repair availability for discontinued vintage pieces depends on factors such as age, material, and whether replacement parts are still available. If future repair support is important to you, it is best to check feasibility in advance.

Q: How is a vintage Louis Vuitton bag like this usually authenticated?
A: Authentication should look at the whole bag rather than one single detail. Experts typically assess the materials, construction, stitching, hardware, lining, stamps, shape, and date code together. At A Retro Tale, all items are professionally vetted before sale for added peace of mind.
