Vacheron Constantin32mm Ref 39039 18K Watch

Q: How does the 32mm case wear on the wrist?
A: This watch has a 32mm case, which is a classic vintage dress-watch size. It is meant to wear neatly and elegantly rather than oversized, and it usually suits buyers who appreciate refined proportions or have smaller to medium wrists.

Q: From what period is this watch?
A: The product information dates this piece to circa 1980. That era is known for slimmer, more understated watch designs, which is part of the appeal of vintage Vacheron Constantin dress watches.

Q: What are the main design details of this watch?
A: According to the product information, it features an 18K yellow gold case, a champagne dial with Roman numerals, and a black leather strap. Together, these details give it a timeless and formal look that works especially well with tailoring and evening wear.

Q: What is included with the watch?
A: The product information states that no additional items are included with this watch. If a box, papers, extra strap or any other item is not mentioned in the product information, please assume it is not part of the sale.

Q: Is this watch suitable for everyday wear?
A: Yes, it can be worn regularly if treated with appropriate care. Vintage dress watches are usually best for office, dinner, occasion, and smart-casual wear rather than sport, impact-heavy use, or rough daily activity.

Q: Is it safe to wear this watch in water?
A: It is best to be cautious with any vintage dress watch around water unless it has been freshly pressure-tested by a qualified watchmaker. We would recommend avoiding swimming, showering, and heavy moisture, especially as leather straps do not respond well to water.

Q: Can the leather strap be replaced?
A: In most cases, yes. A leather strap can usually be changed when it shows wear or if you would like a different look, and a high-quality replacement can refresh the watch beautifully while keeping its classic character.

Q: Will a vintage watch like this need servicing?
A: Periodic servicing is a normal part of owning a vintage luxury watch and helps preserve reliability over time. If the watch shows irregular timekeeping, feels unusual when winding or setting, or has not been checked for a long period, a professional service is worth considering.

Q: Can I request archive paperwork or brand documentation for a vintage Vacheron Constantin?
A: Vacheron Constantin offers heritage documentation for many vintage pieces. An Extract from the Archives can provide recorded historical details about a watch, while a Certificate of Authenticity is a separate service that requires the watch to be physically examined by the brand.

Q: Does the absence of original papers automatically mean a vintage watch is not authentic?
A: No. Original papers are helpful for provenance, but authenticity should be judged by the watch itself, including its reference and serial details, construction, materials, and expert inspection. For this piece, the product information records Ref 39039 and Serial 613066.
