ChanelClassic Medium Double Flap Bag

Q: What typically fits inside this Chanel Classic Medium Double Flap Bag?
A: With measurements of approximately 26 x 16.5 x 6 cm, this medium size is ideal for daily essentials such as a phone, card holder or compact wallet, keys, lipstick, and a few small personal items. The double flap adds structure, so it is best suited to a neat, compact carry rather than bulkier items.

Q: Can this bag be worn on the shoulder or crossbody?
A: Yes, the chain-link and leather strap allows versatile wear. It is most commonly worn on the shoulder, and it can also be styled longer by wearing the chain as a single strap. Crossbody fit depends on your height and preferred silhouette, but this size is generally best known as a classic shoulder bag.

Q: What is the difference between a double flap and a single flap?
A: A double flap has both the outer front flap and an additional inner flap. This design is one of the signature features of the Chanel Classic Flap, helping the bag keep its structured shape and giving it the iconic layered interior. It can feel slightly more compact inside than a single-flap style, but it is highly prized by collectors for its classic construction.

Q: What is included with this bag?
A: This item comes with product information including the box, authenticity card, and serial number tag. If anything is not listed in the product information, it should not be assumed to be included.

Q: What does the serial number 11xxxxxx mean?
A: The serial number places this bag in the 2006-2008 production period. That makes it a vintage Chanel piece from a highly sought-after era, while still offering many of the classic details collectors look for in the Medium Double Flap.

Q: What is the condition of this bag?
A: This bag is listed in good condition. The exterior shows scuffing on the corners, the interior has light traces of use and a light vintage smell, and the hardware remains shiny with light scratches. Please review the product images carefully for the most accurate impression of its current condition.

Q: How should I care for this vintage Chanel bag?
A: For gentle upkeep, wipe the leather with a soft dry cloth and avoid harsh cleaning products, oils, or sprays. Keep it away from prolonged sunlight, heat, and moisture. When storing, place it upright, lightly stuff it to help maintain its shape, and keep the chain protected so it does not press into the leather over time.

Q: Is this a practical everyday Chanel size?
A: Yes, the Medium Classic Flap is widely considered one of Chanel’s most versatile and practical sizes. It transitions beautifully from day to evening, offers enough room for essentials, and remains one of the most recognisable and enduring Chanel silhouettes.

Q: Is black with gold-tone hardware a timeless choice?
A: Absolutely. Black quilted leather paired with gold-tone hardware is one of Chanel’s most iconic combinations. It is elegant, easy to style, and especially desirable in the Classic Medium Double Flap format, making it a strong choice for both wear and long-term collection appeal.

Q: How do you authenticate this bag?
A: Every item at A Retro Tale is carefully vetted by in-house experts using detailed checks of materials, construction, hardware, interior details, and serial features. We stand behind the authenticity of the items we sell, and this bag also includes its authenticity card and serial number tag as part of the product information.
