HermèsClemence Picotin Lock 22 Bag

Q: What are the dimensions of the Picotin Lock 22 and how does this piece compare?
A: The Picotin 22 is generally around 22 × 21 × 17 cm. This specific bag measures approximately 22 × 20 × 17 cm with a handle drop of about 15 cm. As Hermès pieces are handmade, small variations are normal.

Q: What typically fits inside the Picotin 22?
A: Daily essentials such as a large smartphone, long wallet, keys, sunglasses case, a small cosmetics pouch, and an A5 notebook will fit comfortably. Many users also carry a 500 ml water bottle. It is not designed for a laptop or A4 documents.

Q: Is the Picotin 22 designed for shoulder carry?
A: It is primarily intended to be carried by hand or in the crook of the arm. The handle drop on this piece is about 15 cm, which is usually too short for comfortable shoulder carry. Some owners use third‑party straps, but this can alter the shape and is not an Hermès recommendation.

Q: How secure is the open top and how does the lock work?
A: The bag closes via a leather strap that threads through brackets and is weighted by the padlock at the front. It provides light security for everyday use but is not as sealed as a zip closure. Consider using small pouches for valuables inside the open compartment.

Q: Does the Picotin 22 have a lining or pockets?
A: The Picotin is unlined with a single open compartment and no interior pockets. This showcases the leather and keeps the bag light and easy to access.

Q: Does the Picotin 22 have base feet and does it stand up on its own?
A: Yes, the Picotin line features four protective metal feet that help the bag stand and shield the base from wear on surfaces.

Q: What is Hermès Taurillon Clemence leather like and how does it wear over time?
A: Clemence is a supple, grained calfskin with a larger, flatter grain than Togo. It is durable and resistant to light scratches, develops a relaxed slouch with use, and has a slightly heavier feel that suits the Picotin’s casual silhouette.

Q: How should I care for Clemence leather on this bag?
A: Avoid over‑conditioning, prolonged sunlight, and heavy rain. If it gets wet, blot gently and allow to air dry away from heat. Store the bag lightly stuffed in its dust bag to help maintain shape, and consider an organiser or base shaper if you prefer more structure. For deep cleaning or repairs, Hermès spa service is recommended.

Q: What does the stamp Square K (2007) mean on this item?
A: Hermès used a letter-in-square date system from 1997–2014. The letter K inside a square corresponds to production in 2007. The date stamp supports the production year but is just one element in a multi‑point authenticity review.

Q: What is included with this item and is the Picotin a quota bag?
A: Please refer to the product information section on this page for what is included; this piece comes with a dust bag. Regarding boutique policy, the Picotin is generally considered a non‑quota Hermès style, though availability varies by store and season.
