HermèsKelly 28 Box Retourne Bag

Q: What are the measurements of this Hermès Kelly 28?
A: This bag measures approximately 28 cm wide, 21 cm high and 10 cm deep. The 28 refers to its width in centimetres.

Q: What can I fit inside the Kelly 28?
A: The Kelly 28 is suited to everyday essentials such as a phone, compact wallet, keys and a small pouch. The exact capacity depends on the size of your belongings and how you pack them. Use this bag’s measurements as a guide and avoid overfilling it.

Q: What does Retourne mean?
A: Retourne refers to a construction with the seams turned inwards, giving the Kelly softer, rounder edges than the externally stitched Sellier version. It describes the bag’s construction, not its leather type.

Q: What is Box leather, and does it scratch easily?
A: Box is a smooth, glossy calfskin with a firm feel. Its surface is sensitive to scratches, particularly early in its life, and develops a patina over time. This particular bag is listed as red; a more specific Hermès colour name is not provided.

Q: What condition is this vintage Kelly in?
A: This bag is in Very Good Condition. The exterior has minor scuffs on the corners, the interior shows light traces of use, and the hardware remains shiny with light scratches. It is a pre-owned piece rather than an unworn bag.

Q: Does this bag come with a shoulder strap?
A: Yes, a shoulder strap is included, allowing an alternative to carrying it by the top handle. The strap measurement is not provided, so crossbody suitability cannot be confirmed.

Q: What comes with this bag?
A: The product information lists a clochette, padlock, key, dust bag, shoulder strap and accessory dust bags. A presentation box is not listed. The clochette is the small leather cover used to hold the key.

Q: When and where was this Kelly made?
A: The product information identifies the date stamp as Circle Y, corresponding to 1995, and lists France as the country of origin. The date stamp indicates the production year; it is not, on its own, proof of authenticity.

Q: How should I care for this vintage Box leather bag?
A: Protect it from rain, water, oils, prolonged sunlight and heat, and avoid excessively humid or dry storage conditions. Keep it in its dust bag when not in use and avoid overfilling it. For stains, scratches or restoration, seek advice from Hermès before attempting a home treatment.
