Q: Are these Saint Laurent Braided Earrings authentic?
A: Yes. Every item at A Retro Tale is rigorously vetted by our in‑house experts and sold with our authenticity commitment. Shop with confidence.

Q: What material are they made from? Are they solid gold?
A: These earrings are vintage fashion jewellery crafted from gold‑tone metal. They are not solid gold. Yves Saint Laurent vintage pieces are renowned for their high‑quality plating and lasting gold finish. Please review the close‑up photos and features, or contact us if you need confirmation of the composition.

Q: What are the measurements and how big are they on the ear?
A: These earrings measure approximately 2.2 cm in height and 1 cm in width. The braided design offers a textured, elegant look that sits neatly on the lobe without being overpowering. If you’d like to see a photo on a model for scale, just let us know.

Q: How does the clip‑on mechanism work? Is it comfortable?
A: They feature a standard clip‑on closure at the back, suitable for non‑pierced ears. Vintage YSL clips are generally well‑regarded for being secure yet comfortable. For added cushioning during all‑day wear, you can easily attach silicone comfort pads (not included).

Q: What hallmarks or stamps should I look for?
A: Authentic vintage Saint Laurent earrings typically bear the “YSL” signature (often the Cassandre logo) and/or a “Made in France” stamp on the reverse of the clip or the earring body. Our listing photos show the specific hallmarks present on this pair.

Q: Are they suitable for sensitive skin? Do they contain nickel?
A: Vintage costume jewellery alloys and plating may contain nickel. If you have metal sensitivities, we recommend monitoring comfort or applying a clear barrier product to the clip contact points. Discontinue wear if irritation occurs.

Q: How should I care for the gold‑tone finish?
A: Keep the earrings dry and away from perfume, hairspray, lotions and water. After wear, wipe them gently with a soft, dry microfibre cloth to remove oils. Do not use ultrasonic cleaners or harsh chemical dips, as these can damage the vintage plating. Store them securely in a pouch or box to prevent scratches.

Q: What condition should I expect, what is included, and can I return them?
A: These earrings are in Very Good Condition (Condition Score: 353326) with light signs of vintage wear possible. No accessories are included. Returns are accepted under our standard policy—please see our Returns page for eligibility, timeframes and conditions, and ensure the item is returned in the same condition received.
