Christian DiorMedium Dio(r)evolution Shoulder Bag

Q: What are the key features of the Dior Dio(r)evolution Shoulder Bag?
A: This medium flap bag is crafted in black grained calfskin with gold-tone DIOR slot handclasp, a magnetic flap, black suede lining with an internal zipped pocket, and a detachable, adjustable wide shoulder strap. Made in Italy.

Q: What typically fits inside?
A: Everyday essentials such as a large smartphone, small wallet or cardholder, keys, lipstick and slim sunglasses (preferably in a soft pouch). It does not comfortably fit an A5 notebook or a tablet like the iPad mini. Please see the Measurements on this page (approx. 25 × 17 × 6 cm) to compare with your items.

Q: Can I wear it crossbody as well as on the shoulder?
A: Yes. The wide strap is detachable and adjustable for shoulder or crossbody wear. This specific item’s strap drop is approximately 53 cm; similar models are typically adjustable around the mid‑40s to mid‑50s cm range. The front slot handclasp also allows a secure handheld carry.

Q: Is this style current or mainly found pre‑owned?
A: The Dio(r)evolution debuted around Spring/Summer 2017 and is now most often found on the pre‑owned market, making it a great choice for vintage lovers.

Q: What accessories are included with this item?
A: As listed under Accessories: box, dust bag, authenticity card, brand booklet and the detachable shoulder strap. If it isn’t listed, it isn’t included—feel free to contact us for clarification.

Q: How do you authenticate this bag, and where is the Dior date code?
A: Every item at A Retro Tale is rigorously vetted by our in‑house experts. Dior bags typically have a heat‑stamped leather label inside with a date code on the reverse; on modern pieces the code often follows a two digits, two letters, four digits format. We can share additional photos or details on request.

Q: Is the magnetic flap safe for credit cards?
A: Modern chip (EMV) cards are generally resistant to everyday magnets, but traditional magnetic‑stripe cards and hotel key cards can be affected. As a precaution, keep cards in a wallet or a pocket away from the magnetised flap.

Q: How should I care for the grained calfskin and suede lining?
A: Wipe the leather gently with a soft, dry cloth after use and keep it away from moisture, oils and prolonged sunlight. Store the bag stuffed to maintain shape and in a breathable dust bag. For the suede lining, use a clean suede brush or a lint roller lightly; avoid liquid cleaners and always test any care product on an inconspicuous area first.

Q: The description notes a smell—what does that mean and can it be reduced?
A: Vintage pieces can retain storage or material odours. Often this softens with time. Air the bag in a cool, dry place out of direct sun and store it with odour‑absorbing sachets (such as activated charcoal or baking‑soda packets, kept contained). Avoid spraying perfume or harsh deodorisers directly onto the leather or suede. If you are sensitive to scents, please ask us for more details before purchasing.
