Q: What typically fits inside the Louis Vuitton Epi Friedland Bag?
A: With approximate measurements of 27 x 20 x 8 cm, this structured vintage shoulder bag is best suited to daily essentials such as a phone, small wallet, keys, sunglasses and a few cosmetics. Its slim profile makes it ideal for light, organised carrying rather than bulky items.

Q: Is this bag a shoulder bag or a crossbody bag?
A: This model features a single flat shoulder strap and is generally intended to be worn on the shoulder. Please refer to the Measurements on this page for the listed strap measurement of 47 cm.

Q: What material is the bag made from?
A: This bag is crafted from Louis Vuitton Epi leather with gold-tone hardware. Epi leather is known for its distinctive textured finish, structured feel and strong resistance to everyday wear compared with many smoother leathers.

Q: How is the interior organised?
A: According to the product information, the bag has a blue leather lining and one internal zipped pocket. This helps keep smaller essentials separate while maintaining the bag’s clean, compact shape.

Q: What does the date code V.I 0971 mean?
A: Louis Vuitton date codes from this era indicate the place and date of production rather than serving as a unique serial number. The code V.I 0971 corresponds to manufacture in France in July 1991.

Q: Does the date code alone confirm authenticity?
A: No. A date code is only one part of the authentication process and should not be relied on by itself. Authenticity is best assessed through a combination of materials, construction, hardware, stamps and overall craftsmanship. Every item sold by A Retro Tale is carefully vetted by experts.

Q: What condition is this bag in?
A: The bag is in good vintage condition. The exterior shows visible scratches on the blue leather detail and wear on the strap, the interior has dark marks, and the hardware remains shiny with light scratches. Please review the product images and condition notes carefully before purchasing.

Q: Are any extras included with this bag?
A: No extras are included with this item. If you would like to confirm what is or is not included, please refer to the product information on this page.

Q: How should I care for vintage Epi leather?
A: Wipe it gently with a soft, dry or slightly damp cloth and avoid harsh cleaners, heavy rubbing and prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, heat or moisture. When not in use, store the bag in a cool, dry place and lightly stuff it to help maintain its shape.

Q: Is Epi leather completely scratch-proof?
A: No. Epi leather is widely appreciated for being durable and more scratch-resistant than many smooth leathers, but vintage pieces can still show scuffs, scratches and edge wear over time. This is normal for a pre-owned bag and part of its vintage character.
