ChanelClassic Caviar Wallet On Chain Bag

Q: What typically fits inside the Classic Wallet on Chain?
A: Despite its compact profile, it comfortably holds a large smartphone, cards in the built‑in slots, folded notes, coins in the zipped pocket, a key fob and a lipstick. To maximise space, use the internal card slots instead of a separate wallet and avoid bulky items to keep the flap closing smoothly.

Q: Will it fit a big smartphone?
A: Most large smartphones fit. Extra‑large models with thick cases may be snug; angling the phone and using a slim case helps. Always compare your device to the listed measurements and allow a little room for the flap curvature.

Q: How does the strap wear on different heights?
A: On this piece the drop is approximately 64 cm, which typically sits at or just below the hip when worn cross‑body on many frames. You can also wear it on the shoulder or tuck the chain inside to carry it as a clutch.

Q: Can I shorten the chain without altering the bag?
A: Yes—non‑permanent methods include looping the chain under the flap, doubling it over your shoulder, or using a small strap shortener/clip inside the bag. Avoid anything that dents the leather and ensure the flap still closes flat.

Q: What are the benefits of Caviar leather on this model?
A: Chanel’s Caviar (grained calfskin) has a pebbled texture that’s known for durability and structure. It is more resistant to surface scratches and general wear than smooth lambskin, making it a practical choice for frequent use.

Q: How should I care for Caviar leather?
A: Wipe with a soft, dry cloth after use; avoid harsh cleaners and prolonged exposure to sunlight, moisture or heat. Store upright in a breathable pouch, lightly stuffed to maintain shape, and wrap the chain to prevent imprints on the leather.

Q: Does a passport fit?
A: A standard passport fits; if you are carrying more than one or using a thick cover, space will be tighter. Place flat and avoid overfilling so the snap closure remains secure.

Q: What do Chanel serial numbers mean for this piece?
A: The 30‑series serial number indicates production around 2020–2021, from the period just before Chanel transitioned (in 2021) from hologram stickers/authenticity cards to an embedded microchip and metal plate. This item features a serial number tag as listed in Product information.

Q: What is included with this item?
A: Everything included is listed under Product information. For this piece, the listing shows a serial number tag. If a dust bag, box or card is not listed there, it is not included—feel free to contact us for confirmation.

Q: Where was this piece made and how do you authenticate it?
A: This bag was made in Italy. Every item at A Retro Tale is rigorously vetted by our in‑house experts using multi‑point checks of materials, stitching, hardware, stamps and serials. We stand behind the authenticity of all items we sell and can provide further details on request.
