Christian DiorPatent 30 Montaigne Wallet on Chain Bag

Q: What typically fits inside the 30 Montaigne Wallet on Chain?
A: With approximate dimensions of 22 × 14 × 3 cm, it’s designed for essentials: a large smartphone, slim cardholder (or use the built‑in card slots), keys, lipstick and folded notes. A continental (long) wallet and bulky sunglasses cases generally do not fit due to the 3 cm depth. If you’d like, we can do a tailored fit check for this exact piece.

Q: Will it fit a Pro/Max‑sized phone?
A: Most Pro/Max smartphones fit, especially without an overly thick case. Because the profile is slim, adding a chunky case or several small pouches may make the flap hard to close. Share your device measurements and we’ll confirm against this bag.

Q: Can I wear it crossbody and is the chain removable?
A: Yes. The chain strap is detachable and has an approximate 57 cm drop for comfortable shoulder or crossbody wear. You can also remove the chain to carry it as an elegant clutch.

Q: How secure is the closure and what’s the interior layout?
A: It features a secure flap closure adorned with the CD logo. Inside you’ll find a black leather/fabric lining with integrated card slots and a zipped pocket to keep valuables organised.

Q: What does the ‘30 Montaigne’ signature refer to?
A: The embossed ‘30 Montaigne’ on the back nods to Dior’s historic address at 30 Avenue Montaigne in Paris—an emblematic detail of the line.

Q: What is the material and how should I care for it?
A: This piece is crafted in black patent leather with silver‑tone hardware and is Made in Italy. For care: wipe with a soft, dry microfibre cloth; avoid alcohol, acetone and oil‑based products; keep away from heat and humidity; and store lightly stuffed in a breathable dust bag. To prevent colour transfer or the surface becoming tacky, avoid prolonged contact with printed materials, darker fabrics and other patent items, and place a piece of felt between the chain and the leather during storage.

Q: Is patent leather durable? Will it scratch or show marks easily?
A: Patent’s coated finish is resilient to light rain and daily handling but can show fingerprints and fine hairline scratches. Most smudges buff out gently with a clean microfibre cloth; deeper scuffs or colour migration are best assessed by a professional leather specialist—please avoid abrasive cleaners or heavy conditioners.

Q: Is the 30 Montaigne Wallet on Chain still produced?
A: The 30 Montaigne line launched in recent years and continues to appear in Dior assortments; specific versions (like patent leather and hardware colourways) are often seasonal. The pre‑loved market is typically the best way to find this exact configuration in black patent with silver‑tone hardware.

Q: Where are the Dior markings and codes located?
A: Authentic Dior pieces feature an interior “Christian Dior Paris” heat‑stamp and a discreet production/date code. On wallets‑on‑chain and small leather goods, the code is often on the back of a small leather tag or stamped along the inner trim of a card slot. Placement and format vary by season and model—ask us if you’d like close‑up photos of this exact piece.

Q: What accessories are included and what is the condition?
A: This listing states no accessories are included. Overall condition is Very Good with light traces of use; the hardware remains shiny with light scratches. As with all items at A Retro Tale, this piece has been rigorously authenticated by our in‑house experts before listing.
