Christian Dior45 Floral Cotton Handkerchief

Q: What does the 45 size mean on this Christian Dior handkerchief?
A: The 45 size usually indicates an approximately 45 x 45 cm square. That makes it a versatile small-format piece that works well as a pocket square, a neat neck tie, a wrist tie or tied to a bag, rather than as a large wrap or shawl.

Q: Is this handkerchief made from cotton?
A: Yes. This piece is described as floral cotton, so you can expect a light, breathable feel with a slightly more relaxed and easy-to-style finish than a very fluid silk square.

Q: Can I wear it as a pocket square?
A: Yes, very easily. A 45 cm square is a practical size for a blazer or jacket pocket, and cotton tends to hold a crisp fold nicely. A flat fold or a soft puff fold usually suits this type of piece best.

Q: Can it be styled in ways other than as a pocket square?
A: Yes. Small Dior scarf pieces are often worn around the neck, tied at the wrist or attached to a bag. With this size, expect a neat knot and a slimmer silhouette rather than a dramatic drape.

Q: Is this better for styling or for everyday practical use?
A: Most buyers choose vintage designer handkerchiefs like this as styling pieces rather than for everyday practical use. The floral print and vintage Dior appeal make it especially well suited to wear as a pocket square, neckerchief or bag accent.

Q: How should I care for a vintage cotton handkerchief like this?
A: As this is a vintage cotton piece, gentle care is best. If cleaning is needed, use cool water and a mild detergent only after testing a hidden area for colour bleed, especially because red tones can be sensitive. Do not wring, tumble dry or expose it to strong heat or direct sun. If you prefer the safest option, use a specialist cleaner experienced with vintage textiles.

Q: What condition is this item in?
A: It is listed in very good vintage condition, with light traces of use noted on both the exterior and interior. That means it has been previously enjoyed but remains well presented overall.

Q: Does it come with a box, dust bag or other original items?
A: No additional items are listed for this piece. Please refer to the product information on this page for exactly what is included with your order.

Q: Does this handkerchief have a serial number?
A: No serial number is listed in the product information for this item. That is not unusual for smaller vintage textile pieces, where authenticity is more often judged through the label, print quality, stitching and overall construction.

Q: How do you authenticate a vintage Dior handkerchief?
A: At A Retro Tale, items are expert-vetted before sale. For vintage Dior fabric pieces, authentication typically focuses on details such as the label font and placement, stitching quality, print clarity, fabric feel and overall workmanship, rather than relying only on a code.
