CelineSmall Sea Sangle Bag

Q: What typically fits inside the Céline Small Sangle Seau?
A: The Small Sangle Seau (measuring 25 × 18 × 12 cm) is surprisingly spacious for its compact footprint. It fits daily essentials such as a large smartphone, a continental wallet, keys, a cosmetics pouch, and a small water bottle or folding umbrella. While it easily accommodates an iPad Mini or e-reader, larger tablets and laptops will likely protrude or not fit due to the 18 cm width. Please refer to the Measurements on this page or contact us for a tailored fit check for this exact piece.

Q: Is the strap adjustable and can I wear it crossbody?
A: This model features a wide, detachable textile shoulder strap. While the strap is not adjustable, it has a drop of approximately 48 cm, which allows most wearers to carry it comfortably on the shoulder or as a high crossbody bag. If you need to confirm exactly how it sits on your frame, just ask and we’ll be happy to advise.

Q: How does the Small Sangle differ from the standard Sangle Seau?
A: The most notable difference—aside from the smaller dimensions—is the exterior design. The standard (large) Sangle Seau features four flat exterior pockets, whereas the Small Sangle Seau has a clean, minimalist exterior without outer pockets. Both sizes share the signature bucket shape and hook closure.

Q: How secure is the closure?
A: The bag features an open-top bucket design secured by an internal metal hook clasp. This allows for easy access to your belongings but offers less security than a zipped bag. For valuables, we recommend using the internal zipped pocket or placing them in a separate pouch inside the main compartment.

Q: What is the interior layout?
A: The interior is lined in tonal suede and typically features one zipped pocket and one flat slip pocket, helping to organize smaller items within the spacious main compartment. Our listing photos show the exact interior condition and configuration of this piece.

Q: How durable is the grained calfskin leather?
A: The Sangle Seau is crafted from thick, grained calfskin (in this case, a beautiful Sea Grey), which is renowned for its durability and resistance to scratches. It holds its structure well while softening slightly with use. To care for it, wipe with a soft, dry cloth and avoid prolonged exposure to moisture or direct heat.

Q: Is this model still produced?
A: The Céline Sangle Seau line has been discontinued, making it a sought-after piece on the pre-loved market. Finding a Small Sangle in this specific Sea Grey colour and condition is becoming increasingly rare.

Q: Where can I find the date code?
A: On Céline bags, the date code is usually embossed on a leather tag inside the interior pocket or directly onto the lining. The format typically consists of one letter, a dash, two letters, and four numbers, indicating the factory and date of manufacture. We are happy to provide close-up photos of the date code for this item on request.

Q: What accessories are included with this bag?
A: This item includes the detachable shoulder strap. Any other original accessories (such as a dust bag or box) are only included if listed explicitly under the “Accessories” section on this page. If you are unsure, please feel free to contact us for confirmation.

Q: How do you authenticate this bag?
A: Every item at A Retro Tale is rigorously vetted by our in-house experts using multi-point checks of materials, stitching, hardware, logo stamps, date codes, and overall construction. We stand behind the authenticity of all items we sell and can provide additional details if needed.
