ChanelCaviar Medallion Tote Bag

Q: What typically fits inside the Chanel Caviar Medallion Tote?
A: With its structured silhouette (approx. 30 × 24 × 15 cm), it comfortably holds daily essentials: large smartphone, continental wallet, keys, slim sunglasses in a soft case, small cosmetics pouch, an A5 diary/notebook and a compact tablet/e‑reader. Capacity can vary slightly by production year and the curved zip opening—feel free to ask us for a tailored fit check for this exact piece.

Q: Will it fit A4 documents or a laptop?
A: A4 papers/folders (29.7 × 21 cm) generally do not lie flat due to the 24 cm height and the zip opening. An 11‑inch tablet/iPad usually fits; a 13‑inch laptop is typically too large or awkward because of the structured sides and zip curve. Compare your device’s measurements with ours and we can test the fit in this specific bag.

Q: Can I wear it on the shoulder?
A: Yes—many wearers carry it on the shoulder. The dual rolled handles have an approx. 16 cm drop, giving a secure high‑shoulder or crook‑of‑arm carry. It’s not designed for crossbody wear and may sit high over bulky outerwear.

Q: How secure is the closure and what is the pocket layout?
A: It features a top zip closure with the signature CC medallion pull for everyday security. Inside you’ll typically find one zipped pocket and one slip pocket; externally there is a back slip pocket for quick‑access items. Our photos and description show the exact layout of this piece.

Q: What is Chanel “Caviar” leather and how durable is it?
A: Caviar is Chanel’s grained calfskin with a pebbled texture, prized for its everyday durability and resistance to surface scratches compared with smoother leathers. It retains structure well on tote silhouettes like the Medallion and develops a refined patina with proper care.

Q: How should I care for the caviar leather and hardware?
A: Keep it dry and away from prolonged sunlight and oils. Be mindful of colour transfer from dark denim onto light leathers. Wipe with a soft, dry cloth; if you choose to condition, use a high‑quality neutral product very sparingly and test on a discreet area first. Store upright, lightly stuffed, in a breathable dust bag, and pad the medallion/handles to minimise impressions and hairline scratches on silver‑tone hardware.

Q: Is the Medallion Tote still produced?
A: No—the Medallion Tote is a discontinued/vintage style from the early 2000s and is now found on the pre‑loved market. Availability, materials and hardware combinations vary by year.

Q: When was this specific bag produced? What does serial number 6564608 indicate?
A: Chanel serial numbers beginning with “6” (seven digits) generally correspond to the 6‑series, produced approximately between 2000 and 2002. This piece bears serial number 6564608, placing it in that timeframe.

Q: Where was this bag made and what accessories are included?
A: This exact piece is labelled Made in France. It is delivered with its internal serial number tag; if an authenticity card, box or dust bag is not listed under “Accessories,” it is not included—please ask us to confirm anything specific you need.

Q: Is the Medallion Tote heavy? Will it hold its shape?
A: The Medallion is a medium, structured tote designed for comfortable day‑to‑evening use. Caviar leather and the bag’s construction help it keep its shape well when stored correctly. If you’re weight‑sensitive, we can provide the exact scale weight of this item on request.
