Chanel2008s Small Vertical Shopping Tote Bag

Q: What fits inside this Chanel 2008s Small Vertical Shopping Tote Bag?
A: With measurements of approximately 22 x 15 x 8 cm, this is a compact tote best suited to daily essentials such as a phone, card holder or slim wallet, keys, lipstick, and a few small personal items. It is not large enough for a laptop or most tablets, so it works best as a neat day bag rather than a work tote.

Q: How can this bag be carried?
A: This bag has dual leather handles with an approximately 14 cm handle drop. It is best suited to hand carry or to sit neatly over the shoulder depending on personal build and outerwear. There is no detachable shoulder strap listed for this item.

Q: What does the serial number 12****** mean?
A: Chanel 12-series serial numbers correspond to production from 2008 to 2009, which aligns well with this bag’s dating. For vintage Chanel bags, the serial number helps indicate the manufacturing period rather than the exact style name.

Q: What product information is included with this bag?
A: The listed product information for this item is the serial number only. If an authenticity card, box, dust bag, or other extras are not listed in the product information on this page, they should not be assumed to be included.

Q: What is the condition of this bag?
A: The bag is listed in Very Good Condition overall. The exterior shows scuffing on the corners, the interior has light traces of use, and the hardware remains shiny with light scratches. This suggests a well-kept vintage piece with visible but moderate signs of wear consistent with age and use.

Q: Is white or off-white Chanel leather difficult to maintain?
A: Light-coloured leather is beautiful but generally requires a little more care than darker shades, as marks and colour transfer tend to show more easily. It is best to be cautious around dark denim, heavily dyed fabrics, rain, and cosmetics to help preserve the finish and colour.

Q: How should I care for this vintage Chanel tote?
A: Avoid overfilling the bag so it keeps its shape, and keep it away from prolonged sunlight, moisture, perfume, makeup, and harsh cleaning products. When not in use, store it upright in a pouch or dust bag and lightly fill it with tissue paper to help maintain its structure. For routine care, use only a soft cloth and handle the leather gently.

Q: Can Chanel still service or repair an older bag like this?
A: Chanel offers care and repair services through its boutiques, so vintage leather bags may still be eligible for assessment. Availability of repair work can vary depending on the bag’s age, material, and condition, so any service would normally be confirmed after inspection.

Q: Where was this bag made?
A: The country of origin label for this item is France, which is consistent with many Chanel leather goods from this period.
