ChanelCC Icon Tote Bag

Q: What typically fits inside the Chanel CC Icon Tote?
A: Based on its approximate 30 × 27 × 9 cm measurements, it comfortably carries a long wallet, phone, keys, sunglasses, cosmetics pouch, an A5 diary/notebook, a slim 500 ml bottle, and a tablet up to around 11 inches. Capacity varies by how you pack and by case thickness—please refer to the Measurements on this page for exact dimensions.

Q: Will it fit a 13-inch laptop?
A: Generally no. Most 13-inch laptops are around 30–31 cm wide, while this bag’s width is approx. 27 cm and it has a zipped top, which further reduces the opening. A slim 11-inch tablet is a safer fit.

Q: Is it comfortable to carry on the shoulder?
A: Yes. It has dual flat shoulder straps designed for over‑the‑shoulder wear. The strap measurement is listed as 35 cm on this page; comparing this to a bag you already own will help you gauge where it will sit over light layers or a coat.

Q: Which year does serial number 4845289 correspond to?
A: The 7‑digit serial beginning with 4 indicates mid‑1990s production, commonly attributed to the 4‑series (circa 1996–1997). This aligns with widely used Chanel date‑code guides in the vintage market.

Q: What pockets and closure does this model have?
A: It features a secure zip top closure and a black leather‑lined interior with one internal zipped pocket—ideal for valuables. The exterior is black quilted canvas with an all‑over Chanel icon print and gold‑tone hardware.

Q: What accessories are included with this item?
A: As listed, it comes with a serial number tag. Everything included is stated under Accessories on this page; if something isn’t listed (for example, dust bag or authenticity card), it is not included—feel free to contact us to confirm.

Q: How should I care for the vintage canvas and leather lining?
A: Avoid overfilling, prolonged sunlight, humidity, and colour transfer. If lightly soiled, gently wipe with a soft, slightly damp, lint‑free cloth and let it air dry away from heat. Do not use harsh cleaners. Store the bag upright in a breathable dust bag, loosely stuffed to maintain shape, and keep straps wrapped to avoid imprints.

Q: The corners show scuffing and the handles some fraying—can this be restored?
A: Yes, reputable handbag restoration specialists can tidy frayed edges, reinforce straps, and touch up corner wear. Results vary by case; many clients choose subtle conservation to preserve originality. We’re happy to recommend professional services on request.

Q: How does A Retro Tale authenticate this bag?
A: Every item is vetted by our in‑house experts using multi‑point checks of materials, stitching, stamps, hardware, and date code consistency. We stand behind the authenticity of all pieces and can share additional photos or details upon request.

Q: Where was this piece made?
A: The origin label is France, consistent with the Country of Origin shown on this page.
