CelineC Macadam Shoulder Bag

Q: What typically fits inside the Céline C Macadam Shoulder Bag?
A: With approximate dimensions of 26 × 18 × 6 cm, it comfortably carries a long wallet, smartphone, keys, compact sunglasses, small cosmetics and a slim cardholder. The multi-compartment leather-lined interior helps organise smaller essentials.

Q: Will it fit A4 documents or a full-size iPad?
A: A4 (21 × 29.7 cm) sheets and most standard iPads are too large for this size. Compact tablets up to roughly 8 inches (e.g., iPad mini-size) and small e-readers can fit, subject to case thickness.

Q: Is the strap long enough for cross-body wear?
A: The single strap has an approximate 29 cm drop and is adjustable, but it is designed for the shoulder rather than cross-body. Most users will find it sits best on the shoulder or in the crook of the arm.

Q: What is the Macadam canvas and how durable is it?
A: Céline’s monogrammed coated canvas is lightweight and hard-wearing. It is water-resistant to everyday splashes and easy to wipe clean, while the leather trim benefits from periodic conditioning. Avoid prolonged, heavy rain and direct heat to preserve the finish.

Q: How should I care for the leather trim and gold-tone hardware?
A: Wipe canvas and leather with a soft, slightly damp cloth and dry immediately. Use a quality leather conditioner sparingly on leather trim only. For gold-tone hardware, dust with a microfibre cloth and avoid abrasive polishes that may remove plating. Store the bag loosely stuffed in a breathable dust bag, away from sunlight and humidity.

Q: What does the Horse Carriage buckle signify?
A: The horse-and-carriage (sulky) motif is a historic Céline emblem introduced in the late 1960s and seen on classic styles from the mid‑1970s. This bag’s buckle references that heritage, giving it a distinctly vintage Céline look.

Q: Does this vintage Céline have a date code and where might it be?
A: Many vintage Céline bags include a date code embossed on a small leather tab inside. Typical modern-vintage codes follow a letter-letter-letter plus four-digit format indicating factory and week/year. Codes are not unique identifiers and placement varies by model; some older pieces may differ. Our listing does not record a serial number for this item.

Q: The listing mentions a vintage smell—can I reduce it safely?
A: Air the bag in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight. Place odour absorbers such as baking-soda sachets or activated-charcoal pouches near (not directly on) the leather lining inside a breathable container for 24–48 hours. Avoid spraying perfume or harsh cleaners; seek a professional leather-care service if the odour persists.

Q: What accessories are included and how do you authenticate it?
A: This piece is sold without accessories unless specifically listed. Every item at A Retro Tale is carefully authenticated by our in‑house experts using multi‑point checks of materials, stitching, hardware and stamps. We stand behind the authenticity of all items and can share extra photos or details on request.
