HermèsEvercolor Maxibox 37 Top Handle Bag

Q: What typically fits inside the Hermès Maxibox 37?
A: Based on the measurements for this exact piece (approx. 22 × 20 × 15 cm as listed), it’s best suited for daily essentials: a large smartphone, compact wallet or cardholder, keys, slim sunglasses in a soft case, a small cosmetics pouch and an A5 diary/ebook reader. Full‑size tablets and A4 documents are unlikely to fit flat; if you have a specific device in mind, compare its dimensions with our Measurements or ask us for a quick fit check.

Q: Does the Maxibox 37 come with a shoulder strap? Can I wear it crossbody?
A: The Maxibox is designed as a top‑handle bag and this piece does not include a shoulder strap. It’s intended for hand or crook‑of‑arm carry; depending on your build and clothing, the approx. 25 cm handle drop may allow a high‑shoulder carry, but it’s not designed for crossbody use.

Q: How secure is the closure and what is the interior layout?
A: This model features a zip‑around closure for secure, easy access. The interior is lined in black leather and includes one slip pocket to organise smaller items. Please refer to the listing photos for the exact pocket configuration of this piece.

Q: What is Hermès Evercolor leather like?
A: Evercolor is a fine‑grained calfskin with a soft hand and a subtle matte sheen. It’s appreciated for combining a smooth look with good shape retention and relative resistance to light surface marks compared with some other smooth leathers. Over time it can develop a gentle, elegant patina with proper care.

Q: How should I care for Evercolor leather and the silver‑toned hardware?
A: Keep the bag away from heavy rain and humidity; if it becomes lightly damp, blot (don’t rub) with a soft cloth and allow it to air‑dry away from heat. Wipe the leather with a clean, dry cloth to remove dust and condition sparingly with a high‑quality neutral leather product after testing on a discreet area. Avoid colour transfer from dark denim onto lighter leathers. For the hardware, avoid abrasive contact during storage and polish very gently with a soft cloth to minimise hairline scratches.

Q: Is the Maxibox 37 a current Hermès model?
A: The Maxibox is an uncommon Hermès style and is most often found on the pre‑loved market. Boutique availability can vary by season and region; this particular piece bears a Square R stamp, indicating production in 2014.

Q: Does this bag have metal feet on the base?
A: Some Maxibox bags were produced with protective base studs while others were not. Please check the product photos for this exact piece or contact us and we’ll confirm the base details for you.

Q: Can I attach an aftermarket strap to the handle hardware?
A: We don’t recommend attaching third‑party clips or straps to the handle or zipper hardware, as this can stress the leather and metal and may lead to damage. If you prefer shoulder or crossbody wear, consider a dedicated bag insert with strap adapters designed for similar top‑handle styles, or choose a Hermès model with purpose‑built strap attachments.

Q: How do you authenticate this Hermès bag?
A: Every item at A Retro Tale is rigorously vetted by our in‑house experts using multi‑point checks of materials, stitching, stamps, date code, hardware and overall construction. We stand behind the authenticity of all items we sell and can provide additional photos or details on request.

Q: What accessories are included with this item?
A: This listing is sold as the bag only and does not include additional accessories. If an accessory isn’t mentioned under “Accessories,” it isn’t included—feel free to contact us for confirmation.
