GucciSoho Backpack

Q: What typically fits inside the Gucci Soho Backpack?
A: This backpack (approx. 30 × 21 × 10 cm) is the compact "Small" size, yet its soft, unstructured shape makes it deceptively spacious. It comfortably holds a standard iPad (e.g., iPad Air/11-inch Pro), a continental wallet, a small water bottle (330–500ml), a cosmetics pouch, sunglasses in a hard case, and daily essentials. It is generally too narrow for a 13-inch laptop or A4 folders. Please refer to the Measurements on this page or contact us for a tailored fit check.

Q: Are the straps adjustable and comfortable?
A: Yes, the shoulder straps feature a signature gold-tone chain upper section and an adjustable leather lower section with buckles. You can lengthen or shorten the leather part to find your preferred fit. While the chains add a luxury weight, the bag itself is relatively lightweight, making it comfortable for daily wear—though we recommend avoiding overstuffing to prevent the chains from digging in.

Q: How secure is the closure and what pockets does it have?
A: The main compartment features a secure two-way zip-around closure. For organization, there is a convenient front zip pocket (ideal for keys, lip balm or a cardholder) and internal slip pockets within the main linen-lined compartment. Our listing photos show the exact configuration of this piece.

Q: Is this model still produced?
A: The Gucci Soho collection, iconic for its embossed interlocking G logo and pebbled leather, has been discontinued. This specific backpack style is no longer available in boutiques, making it a sought-after find on the pre-loved market.

Q: What is the "Soho" leather?
A: This bag is crafted from Gucci’s signature Soho leather, a natural grain (pebbled) calfskin. It is celebrated for being soft yet durable and resistant to visible scratches, making it an excellent choice for everyday use.

Q: How should I care for the pebbled leather and hardware?
A: Pebbled leather is robust but should still be kept dry and away from prolonged direct sunlight or heat. If it gets wet, blot gently with a soft, dry cloth. To maintain the leather’s suppleness, you can use a high-quality neutral leather conditioner sparingly (test on a discreet spot first). The gold-tone chain and hardware can be polished with a dry jewellery cloth to maintain their shine. Store the bag lightly stuffed and upright in its dust bag when not in use.

Q: Where are the brand markings located?
A: You will typically find the "Gucci Made in Italy" heat stamp on a leather tag inside the main compartment. The serial number is usually embossed on the reverse side of this tag. Hardware, including zippers and buckles, may also feature Gucci engraving. We are happy to provide close-up photos of these details on request.

Q: How do you authenticate this bag?
A: Every item at A Retro Tale is rigorously vetted by our in-house experts using multi-point checks of materials, stitching, hardware, font styles, serial numbers and overall construction. We stand behind the authenticity of all items we sell and can provide additional details or photos if needed.

Q: What accessories are included?
A: Included items (e.g., dust bag, box, booklets) are listed under "Accessories" in the product description. For this specific piece, a dust bag is listed. If an item isn’t mentioned there, it is not included.
